Full EPOS System Replacement
Project Overview
Manchester United required a full replacement of their EPOS infrastructure across the stadium. The project involved deploying new payment systems, configuring software integrations and coordinating rollout across all operational areas.
My Responsibilities
- Led the end-to-end planning and delivery of a full stadium EPOS replacement project
- Managed and coordinated a team of 10 installation engineers to deploy over 1000 payment terminals across the stadium
- Introduced and implemented a new table-ordering mobile application across hospitality areas
- Oversaw integration of a new payment processing service via Barclaycard
- Produced and maintained key project documentation including project plans, deployment schedules, testing procedures and installation guides
- Created and maintained RAID logs to track project risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies
- Developed RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) to ensure safe installation activities during stadium deployment
- Coordinated internal engineering, deployment and support teams alongside stadium stakeholders
- Managed system staging, configuration and testing prior to live matchday operation
- Delivered staff training and operational handover to ensure a smooth transition to the new EPOS system
Implementation
The deployment required careful planning to ensure matchday operations were not disrupted. Over 1000 terminals were staged, configured and tested before installation across concourses, bars and hospitality suites. Installation was coordinated through a team of engineers working to a phased rollout plan to minimise operational downtime.
Alongside the hardware rollout, a new table-ordering application was implemented in hospitality areas and integrated with the EPOS platform. A new Barclaycard payment processing service was also integrated to support secure and reliable transactions across the stadium.
Results
- Successfully deployed over 1000 payment terminals across the entire stadium
- Delivered the full EPOS system replacement within the planned project timeline
- Enabled table-ordering functionality across hospitality areas, improving guest experience
- Integrated Barclaycard payment processing to support secure, high-volume matchday transactions
- Provided improved transaction speed, system reliability and operational reporting
