Project Overview

Manchester United required a complete replacement of their EPOS infrastructure across Old Trafford. The scale of the operation, combined with strict constraints around matchday operations, made this a demanding and highly rewarding project to deliver.

The project involved deploying over 1,000 new payment terminals across concourses, bars, and hospitality suites, alongside a new table-ordering application and Barclaycard payment processing integration.

My Responsibilities

• Led the end-to-end planning and delivery of a full stadium EPOS replacement project
• Managed and coordinated a team of 10 installation engineers across all areas of the stadium
• Introduced and implemented a new table-ordering mobile application across hospitality suites
• Oversaw integration of Barclaycard as the new payment processing provider
• Produced and maintained key project documentation — project plans, deployment schedules, testing procedures and installation guides
• Created and maintained RAID logs to track risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies
• Developed RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) to ensure safe installation activities
• Coordinated internal engineering, deployment and support teams alongside stadium stakeholders
• Managed system staging, configuration and testing prior to live matchday operation
• Delivered staff training and operational handover to ensure a smooth go-live transition

Implementation

The deployment required meticulous phased planning to ensure matchday operations were never disrupted. Over 1,000 terminals were staged, configured and tested before installation, with engineers working to a strict rollout plan.

Alongside the hardware rollout, a table-ordering application was implemented across hospitality suites and integrated with the EPOS platform. Barclaycard payment processing was also configured and tested end-to-end.
